Font Support in Shade

Preview, Manage collections, install, uninstall and even font detection from raster images would work. Even a sliver of FontBase's functionality would do it for most people.

Can't work from Premiere

I can create a project and work from it but I can’t save it. I have to “save as” and use a different name.

Video feedback

when making notes on an edit, it would be very nice to be able to record yourself similar to like zoom with the feedback and have it live in the comments of the video they are noting.

Having the ability to push a project directly from active drive to vault drive without having to download it locally would be a huge improvement

Two Page View for Documents

It would be great if we could view documents two pages at a time instead of just one at a time. A lot of my work has to do with sheet music and page changes can really slow down comprehension of the music for me. Can we see both page 1 and page 2 at the same time side by side please?

Editors unable to create version stacks

Our editor is having trouble uploading version stacks to Shade. They have tried using a guest account and a shareable editor link. While they can upload, add, and create folders, the stacking files won’t work, manual stacking fails as well. It works for me in a private window with no full account login. I’ve asked them to try a different browser and the Shade app, but they still can’t stack files. Attached are the error messages.

Filter by Aspect Ratio (ex. Vertical)

I commonly want to find the video edits I’ve exported for social media, often corresponding to a vertical aspect ratio. I’d love to be able to search and filter on that basis. Today I can filter by explicit resolution, but that’s a little clunky and doesn’t cover the scenario cleanly: sometimes my exports are HD, sometimes they’re 4K.

My Drives Dropdown

When clicking on a drive under My Drives, it currently always opens up the entire dropdown menu of that drive with the directory, views, collections etc. For me to close this menu, I have to specifically click on the arrow next to the drive name. There are times where I just want to open the drive directory and start searching through for files, without needing the entire directory open. Can we make it so that when I click on the name of the drive, it just open the directory, but if i click on the arrow, thats when the name and directory with the dropdown menu opens. The current process for closing the dropdown menu follows this workflow, but opening a drive ALWAYS opens the dropdown menu, with no other option at this time.

Image Proxies

For our studio workflow, we handle large volumes of images and would like the ability to batch-export web-optimized versions with smaller file sizes, generated directly from the original files (including raw files).

Log to Rec.709 previews

Would be cool to add in a feature that converts log footage to rec.709 when previewing footage. Nothing permanent, but just for scrubbing and viewing in Shade.

RED R3D File Organization

RED R3D video clips are organized into different folders. Within each clip folder, it has a number of other clips that contain different bits of data. The intention of working with these clips is to import the single clip folder into your NLE (Premiere Pro, Davinci, etc...), and it treats it as if it's a single video file. To help keep continuity and a tidy video asset library in Shade, it would be great if it were treated the same way. Right now, it's showing each individual video file within those clip folders, and I can see it causing more clutter without this method of organizing. Let me know if you'd like a deeper explanation!

Drives wont mount

I cannot mount a single drive right now. My organization is not paying you to be a glorified external hard drive.

bandwidth issues and poor uploader & downloader through the desktop client

hey, are you actively working on improving the uploader and downloader. And how you handle people working off slower bandwidth? The uploader in particular is incredibly slow. And shade really struggles if someones internet isn’t great compared to Lucid. Which handles it seamlessly. I have good internet, but my partner has slow internet. and whenever he tries to use shade it crashed for him, and slows / freezes things on my side. It’s a real bottleneck issue atm.

Can't mount more than one drive

Since upgrading macOS to Tahoe I am not able to mount more than one drive at a time. I receive the alert mounting drive failed clear cache if it persists. I have tried clearing the cache but it does not resolve the issue.

Agency Firewalls

We’re experiencing issues sharing with our Agency clients and Shade links are blocked by their security whereas Frame io works. Two specific agencies this has happened with is Heimat TBWA and Omnicom Group. I’ve email Gurish Sharma twice with regards to this on the 3rd and 10th Oct with no response.

BYOS doesn't appear to be calculating/charging

My account shows in one place that I haven’t used any of my storage but in another place that I’ve over (which is the correct one). However, it doesn’t seem like it’s planning on billing me. I want y’all to stay in business. And, to be fair, as a user I want to know when and how much I’ll be billed. But, ya kno, feel free to not bill me as a bounty for reporting this. ;)

Files not loading on mounted drive

Our files aren’t syncing for our mounted drives.

AI search ignores tags

If I’m searching for “image of 2 girls on the upper west side”, the AI will have a reasonable guess as to which images are in the upper west side. However, if I tag specific images as ‘upper west side’, the AI completely ignores this, whereas I feel this is a better source of info for it to search. We are currently having to add highly specific tags to assets, the AI search has so far been fairly useless.

Date Uploaded -> Date Created

The date shown under the filename when searching assets is the Date uploaded. Not the date created. The latter would be way more useful. Can this be changed in settings, or just changed entirely?
